Ignacia Manriquez and Juan Manuel Navarro had three children together. Despite this, Juan suddenly ended their relationship in 1993. Everything was typical at first. Ignacia even stayed neighborly with her ex for the children. Juan later had a change of heart and wanted to get back together with Ignacia. When Ignacia declined to take him back, Juan chose to murder her. The San Bernardino Province representative lead prosecutor who arraigned the case, Margaret Bevan, said Juan came to Ignacia's family home, where one of the children allows him to come in because he's their father. Ignacia and Juan erupt into a fight. At that point, Juan tailed Ignacia and the children to a nearby strip mall, where the two wound up arguing in a parking area.
